PARENTING INITIATIVE OFFERED TO FARNBOROUGH NEW MUMS

The Meads Shopping Centre, in partnership with independent coffee and book shop The Triangle, are introducing a ‘New Mums’ initiative to help women transition into motherhood.

Studies undertaken in 2022 found that loneliness is a struggle for new parents – especially women entering into motherhood. Humanitarian network British Red Cross found that more than eight in ten mothers under the age of 30 had feelings of loneliness sometimes, compared to 43-percent of new mums who said they feel ‘lonely all of the time’.

That’s why local shopping centre The Meads, partnering with Centre tenant The Triangle, are encouraging women entering motherhood for the first time to meet likeminded women experiencing the same changes in their day-to-day lifestyle. The shopping centre is on the hunt for new mums in the area to make use of the coffee-shop, as a place to meet other new mums and form bonds and friendships with other mums in the area.

Paul Taylor, Manager at The Triangle, commented:

“The team at The Triangle Café in Kingsmead are delighted to be able to support this initiative to supply a safe and welcoming place for refreshment for young and nursing mums in Farnborough.  Besides the welcome, there is also a little play area for toddlers.”

The Meads Shopping Centre welcomes breastfeeding anywhere on their premises, with The Triangle Café being the first eatery to openly allow breastfeeding.
