THE MEADS SHOPPING CENTRE CELEBRATES CONCORDE’S 50th ANNIVERSARY WITH EXCLUSIVE DISPLAY
Marking 50 years since Concorde first took flight, The Meads Shopping Centre has announced plans for an exclusive window display that will celebrate Farnborough’s unique aviation heritage as well as the town’s ties to the iconic airliner.
The display will be a joint venture between the Shopping Centre and the Farnborough Air Science Trust (FAST) and is expected to include a number of fun and educational features highlighting the legacy of both Concorde itself and Farnborough’s aviation history.
Located next to Prezzo, the display will be in place from July 6th until September 7th and will be completely free for shoppers to visit. Sue Carter, Mayor of Rushmoor, will be opening the display to the public in a small ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Tony Parrott, The Meads Shopping Centre Manager, commented: “The Concorde is perhaps one of the most iconic British inventions and has a very unique history with Farnborough. Early concept designs for the airliner were shown at the 1962 air show and the Concorde itself has appeared at the show over 10 times. We are very excited to be working with FAST to bring this exciting display to The Meads and we can’t wait to see our shopper’s response.”
