Purple Tuesday

The Meads Shopping Centre is pleased to announce its involvement in making shopping centres accessible for everyone with disabilities and health conditions by supporting Purple Tuesday.

The Meads prides itself on having excellent shop mobility at the centre and is always making improvements to facilities and training to ensure that the Centre is accessible to everyone. The centre is pleased to be a partner of the Purple Tuesday campaign on Tuesday 13th of November, which is aimed at raising awareness to improve accessibility for shoppers with specific needs.

Purple Tuesday is a campaign organised by the disability organisation ‘Purple’. The goal of Purple Tuesday is to raise awareness for the improvement of customer experiences of people with disabilities and impairment.

The Meads will observe a ‘quiet day’ on Tuesday, 13th November in support of the campaign. This is to make a comfortable environment for shoppers with autism or other sensitive needs.

Tony Parrot, Centre Manager of The Meads Shopping Centre, commented: “The Meads is delighted to support Purple Tuesday. This is our first year advocating the scheme and we hope to build on it in the future. We are also pleased to have worked with local charity, Limbcare for the past three years who run the Shop Mobility service here at The Meads.”
